The summer (if you can call it that!) months have seen broadband providers slashing prices to try and entice new customers and also switchers. Most offers feature a low start up price such as Orange’s 2MB Broadband for £7.49 a month for three months followed by £14.99 in the hope they can attract casual users who may be put off by higher prices for bigger packages. However for the initial low cost you are often tied into an 18 month - 2 year contract which means you pay about the same as you would with a slightly more expensive competitor over the length of the contract.
Below is a list of the current lowest broadband prices around (prices correct at time of writing) :
- Orange Starter - £7.49 for for the first 3 months, £14.99 thereafter
This 2MB package with 2GB download allowance is ideal for the light user but does tie you into a long 18 month contract. Comes with a FREE USB modem. - Tiscali - £7.99 for for the first 3 months, £12.99 thereafter
This 1MB package with Unlimited downloads is good for more regular users who don’t rely on speed e.g. people who may access the internet more often but aren’t streaming movies or playing online. Includes all weekend phone calls and is only a 12 month contract. Comes with a FREE modem and connection. - Pipex Mini - £8.95 for for the first 3 months, £14.99 thereafter
8MB Unlimited Broadband with 2GB download allowance is for light users who want a fast experience whilst online. Pipex also offer Online Data Storage for FREE which is excellent if you have important documents that need storing in a secure manner in case your computer breaks or is stolen.
