Virgin Media Offering £100 off all Triple Packages – Offer ends 29-06-11

June 6, 2011 · Filed Under Broadband, TV, Virgin Media, Virgin Media · Comment

This is gutting news for me seeing as I had my Virgin Media bundle installed a couple of weeks ago! You can now receive a whopping £100 off your first bill plus free installation and a free V+ Box. This is extra gutting for me as I only had my installation on 26th May 2011, if I’d have held out for just over a week longer I could have got my hands on this deal. I’m like a wounded animal writing this article!

Let’s just compare what you will receive now to what I received at the end of May 2011 -

  • £100 off first bill (I received £50 off!)
  • Free V HD installation (I paid £40!)

So if you order online before the end of Wednesday 29th June 2011, you can actually be £90 better off than I was a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I got a bargain! You can read about my Virgin Media installation by clicking on the link below, it truly is a top service. In fact, when I just rang them up to ask them if they could do me the same deal (they couldn’t!), I just upgraded my medium TV tariff to a large, I want my MTV!

> > Click here to read about my Virgin Installation

As you can see, now is definitely the best time to order your Virgin Media bundle, as this is one of the best online savings I have seen, and trust, me I’ve seen and written about a few in my time! So why not stay one step ahead of the game i.e. ME, and give Virgin Media a go, I did and haven’t look back since. Well, apart from obviously being gutted about missing out on this amazing offer. Ouch!

Straight from the Horses Mouth – My Virgin TV Experience

May 31, 2011 · Filed Under Broadband, TV, Virgin Media, Virgin Media · 1 Comment

I’ve just recently had Virgin Media TV installed into my new flat, and thought I’d give you a run down of the experience. As a regular blogger, it’s sometimes good to give first hand feedback, and this experience is well worth reporting. I ordered my Virgin Media bundle on the Tuesday, and was quite surprised when I was informed that the whole package would not only cost me just £20 a month, but also that it could be fitted on the Thursday! For this I received -

  • 10MB broadband
  • Unlimited downloads
  • 65 TV Channels
  • Free Wireless Router
  • Free Weekend calls to UK landlines
  • Plus £50 off!

I decided to go with the V+ HD package, which costs only an extra £5 a month but also allows me to record up to 80 of TV and pause and record my favourite shows. The guys popped round and were in and out within an hour, and that included a full guide into how to use the TV box. If you’ve used Sky TV Plus before then you’ll have no worries, and the amount of extra features is astounding!

Virgin Film on Demand allows you to hire rentals at the same price as Blockbuster, and also at the same time of release. So on Sunday night, I settled down to watch ‘Neds’, the latest release at the rental store without having to leave the comfort of my own front room, brilliant! There’s so much more on demand stuff than Sky. There’s whole series of comedies, including my favourites Peep Show and The Inbetweeners. Plus, on Sunday I forgot that Louis Theroux’s ‘Miami Mega Jail’ was on. Not a problem. I simply flicked back through their archives (Virgin Media record most of the major TV channels) and found the show the following day. So even if you forget to record, you can still find the programmes you want to see at the press of the button.

The installation was completed with the minimum of fuss, and I was up and running with my broadband, TV and phone in only an hour! Seriously, Virgin are really switched on with their customer care. I even received a phone call the next day to ensure I was happy and that everything was working correctly. I couldn’t recommend this service more, particularly the TV, so I’ll just leave you with the link below to the offer I received and if you like what you’ve read, get involved, you won’t regret it.

BT Total Broadband Helps BT Deliver Strong Performance

May 16, 2011 · Filed Under BT Total Broadband, Broadband · Comment

After BT Total Broadband routed rivals in the broadband market during the final quarter, parent company BT posted a 71 per cent rise in full year pre tax profits of £1.7 billion for the financial year ending March 31st, having earned a whopping £495 million during the last three months.

Revenue however declined by four per cent during the financial year, with a six per cent decline quarter on quarter which the company says was in line with expectations.

“We have delivered profits and free cash flow ahead of expectations for the year, while making significant investment in the business for the future. Free cash flow has nearly trebled compared with two years ago,” said BT chief executive (CEO) Ian Livingston.

“We expect to continue to grow our profits and free cash flow whilst investing to return BT to growth. These results show we are making progress, but we are well aware there remains a lot more to do.”

Despite the robust profit numbers the telecoms major increased its call charges by nine per cent and increased its monthly rental fee by 30 pence, a move which some say might upset many of the company’s customers.

BT’s performance in the broadband market was impressive to say the least. 64 per cent of the 252,000 broadband customers added to its network during the final quarter went to BT as opposed to rivals.

Contrastingly rival Virgin Media Broadband added 151,000 new connections to its network, a figure which suggests that for every new Virgin customer, BT adds seven.

The Openreach and Wholesale divisions added 1.1 million new broadband connections over the year, which other ISPs like Sky Broadband and TalkTalk Broadband can rent to provide services to customers.

BT’s Infinity customer base currently stands at 144,000 with the service receiving an average of 5000 orders a week, twice that of Virgin during the last three months, with Virgin adding 32,000 customers to its 50 Mbps service.
