BT has been ranked as number one for customer satisfaction with global data virtual private network (VPN) providers in Telemark's latest independent Customer Experience report.
The company has also achieved the platinum award for best operator overall for customer satisfaction.
Over 700 customers of major VPN providers were questioned about their experiences over the period of a year between July 1st 2007 and June 30th 2008 before the results were announced.
Janet Watkin, director at Telemark, said: "It seems that BT's relentless focus on improving the customer experience and its passion for getting it right first time for customers is what really sets it apart in meeting customer requirements."
In addition, BT also set a new record for the "Ability to Meet Requirements" in Telemark's Customer Satisfaction Index, which aims to discover the service providers which best meet customer priorities.
BT currently employs nearly 431,800 workers and claims to make a substantial contribution to the UK economy.
