Ericsson has announced that it has won the contract to build and manage the mobile network for Cable & Wireless.
It will operate a complete GSM network for the firm in Europe, Asia and the US as it launches its new fixed mobile convergence services in the UK
Under the terms of the deal, Ericsson will supply complete core and radio-access network to facilitate seamless roaming between the GSM solution from Cable & Wireless and its national partners.
Jacqueline Hey, president of Ericsson, said: "This agreement establishes an exciting position for Cable & Wireless and will provide its customers with innovative and attractive solutions."
She added that the deal reflects the close relationship between both firms, with Ericsson proud to be chosen as the supplier for this network.
Earlier this month, Cable & Wireless announced an extension to its offer for the shares of Thus following its third close.
