Future 'will see improved web connectivity' / Thursday, September 11, 2008

Despite the internet appearing to reach its maximum level of connectivity, a technology expert has suggested the dawn of 21st century networks will herald the creation of a better communication platform.

Ben Camm-Jones, news editor of Web-User, noted that a high proportion of the public does not have standard internet access at home, while many claimed they do not actually want it.

Mr Camm Jones said: "The 21st century network is beginning is to be rolled out and may well be a much better platform for delivering all manner of services like voice calling and any other type of communication that businesses need"

He added that the introduction of faster fibre optic networks will result in the creation of a platform more suitable for all the purposes it may be used for, rather than just web browsing.

Recent research from the Office of National Statistics reveals that more than two-thirds of UK adults go online every day or almost every day, with 16.5 million households having internet access.
